Artist’s Description: 1 of 3 openers taken from my 4 x 5 foot acrylic painting entitled “Irezumi Island”, Irezumi is the japanese word for tattoo. I created this painting for Seattle tattooer Aaron Bell, who has been a huge influence on my japanese tattoo art. The Geisha is riding the dragon on a roller coaster track, but I think the dragon is really in control!
- Raised on a diet of Ray Harryhausen films, H. P. Lovecraft novels, comics, Walt Disney World rides and other Florida tourist traps, Pooch paints images that seem to exist in a bizarre afterlife. His art is a visual cocktail of these influences—with a shot of lowbrow culture—shaken and stirred, then served up in a souvenir tiki skull on the Day of the Dead.
Tattooing since 1994, Pooch’s work has been featured in numerous galleries, books and magazines throughout the world.
